Origen Realty begins construction of The Oryza on Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram

Origen Realty has begun construction of The Oryza, its first residential project, in Sector 88A on Dwarka Expressway, appointing Indigo Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. to carry out diaphragm wall construction, a key part of the project’s foundation and basement work.

The diaphragm wall will retain soil and stabilise the surrounding ground during deep excavation. Built using reinforced concrete, the underground structure is essential for projects involving substantial basement construction, helping maintain ground stability as excavation progresses.

The Oryza is located at the crown of Dwarka Expressway, a corridor that has attracted residential development amid improving connectivity across Gurugram and the wider National Capital Region. Origen Realty has not disclosed the project’s investment, number of residential units, construction schedule or expected possession date.

Varun Sharma, Managing Director of Origen Realty, said the construction milestone reflected the company’s focus on moving its first residential development forward.

“At Origen Realty, we believe that a development vision must be supported by tangible progress on the ground. Today’s homebuyers are looking for confidence, credibility and a clear commitment to execution. Awarding the D-wall construction contract to Indigo Infra marks an important step forward for The Oryza by Origen Realty,” Sharma said.

He said the company would follow a structured development process, with attention to quality and execution at every stage, adding that this approach was important for creating long-term value and building trust among homebuyers and other stakeholders.

Indigo Infra Projects, a civil engineering and geotechnical construction company specialising in foundation work, substructures and ground engineering, has been appointed to execute the diaphragm wall construction. Its client portfolio includes Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), DLF, Birla, Bharti Realty, Oberoi Realty, Max Estates Ltd. and Max Hospitals.

Ajit Kumar Jha, Director of Indigo Infra Projects, said the company was pleased to work with Origen Realty, describing it as a new developer partner that had built a presence in the market over the past few months. He also referred to the developer’s commitment to its plans and its approach to taking the project forward.

“We are excited to work with Origen Realty, a new developer partner that has built a credible presence in the market over the past few months. The team’s commitment to its vision and its approach towards taking the project forward are remarkable,” Jha said.

Referring to Indigo Infra’s experience with established developers and other organisations, Jha said specialised construction required technical expertise, coordination and quality. He said the company would work closely with Origen Realty on The Oryza, focusing on quality and precision during diaphragm wall construction.

Ashish Tandon, Chief Business Officer of Origen Realty, said awarding the contract was an important step in advancing the project and that each stage of construction contributed to the overall development plan.

“Awarding the D-wall construction contract to Indigo Infra marks an important step in taking The Oryza by Origen Realty forward. Each stage of development contributes to the larger vision for the project. Our priority is to maintain a clear focus on execution while ensuring that the development progresses in a planned and systematic manner,” Tandon said.

Tandon said the contract reflected the company’s commitment to moving ahead with the project and meeting expectations associated with the Origen Realty name.

Diaphragm walls are commonly used in buildings requiring deep basements because they help retain earth and limit ground movement during excavation. Their construction forms part of the below-ground engineering work undertaken before subsequent stages of a building’s development.

Origen Realty said the appointment of Indigo Infra marked an important step in the construction of The Oryza, its first residential project.
