India’s real estate market set to hit $1 trillion by 2030: CREDAI-ANAROCK

India real estate market $1 trillion

India’s real estate market is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2030 and nearly $5.8 trillion by 2047, marking a sharp expansion from around $600 billion in 2025, according to a CREDAI-ANAROCK report released at NATCON 2026 in Kolkata.

The report, Indian Real Estate: Growth Trajectory, Sectoral Outlook and Geopolitical Crosscurrents, was released by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) in collaboration with ANAROCK Research & Advisory as developers, investors, policymakers and financial experts gathered for the organisation’s 24th annual convention.

The report projects real estate’s contribution to India’s GDP to rise from 6% in 2017 to about 13% by 2030. Employment in the sector is expected to reach 30 million by the end of the decade.

The scale of construction activity has also changed significantly. The value of real estate under construction increased from $94 billion in 2009 to $503 billion in 2025.

Residential demand remains a key driver. Sales across the top seven cities increased from ₹2.35 lakh crore in FY22 to ₹6.10 lakh crore in FY26. Quarterly residential sales have stayed above ₹1.3 lakh crore for seven consecutive quarters.

CREDAI President Shekhar G. Patel said the sector was entering a phase in which technology would affect everything from customer understanding to project execution.

“AI, in particular, has the potential to enable better decision-making, improve efficiencies and create more responsive businesses,” Patel said.

The commercial property market is also seeing a strong shift towards new occupiers. Global Capability Centres accounted for about 45% of office leasing in the first half of 2026, while listed office REITs have expanded their combined leasable area nearly six-fold since FY19.

The report also identifies Tier-II and Tier-III cities as emerging real estate markets, alongside expanding demand for data centres, warehousing and hospitality.

CREDAI Chairman Boman Irani said the sector’s future would be shaped by technology, sustainability, skills and investment.

“The discussions around technology, sustainability, skills and investment are closely connected to the way real estate will grow in the years ahead,” Irani said.

The report comes as NATCON 2026 brings the industry together in Kolkata from October 2 to 4, with AI, innovation, investment and the changing urban landscape among the central themes of the convention.
